Photocopies of microfilm copies of handwritten diaries. Hutchings writes about his migration to California in 1849 and about his activities there. The towns included Sacramento, San Jose, and San Francisco. Apparently, he was doing research for some of his books. He also mentions meeting with a publisher in San Francisco to discuss one of his projects.
